Just got done last night. Went well but the truck was struggling up the hills. If I ever towed cars more than once every few years I’d need a 250. I think with the weight of my truck, the trailer, the car, and stuff I was carrying I was around 12000lbs. Some of the hills the truck was screaming lol. I had trans temps briefly over 200.

You don't need an F250 for 12,000 pounds GCWR. The 5.4 doesn't compare to the new engines. The 3.5EB laughs at 12,000 pounds GCWR and has more torque than the 6.2L in the F250 / F350. Of course I can't fault you if you have the itch to get an F250/F350 diesel - just be aware of the risk that you'll for get you have the trailer out back and clip a corner.

No, the 500 pounds max tongue weight is for either the bumper hitch or the receiver hitch when used without a weight-distributing (WD) hitch. Crawl under the back of your truck and look up to the frame of the receiver. You should see a sticker that says the max TW is 500 pounds WC (weight carrying) without a WD hitch, or more with a WD hitch/ Your bumper hitch has a max of 500 pounds TW with no way to add a WD hitch. So you cannot tow more than 500 pounds TW with the bumper hitch, and you can tow more than 500 pounds TW with the receiver hitch only with a WD hitch.

If you need a cheap auto delivery service then I highly recommend Ship A1. They charge low but the service they provide is great. apart from that they also have services like heavy construction equipment transport, truck transport & many others check them out you won't be disappointed....
