What cab?

I tow my 3500ish pound camper with no issues. Had a 22' pontoon as well, single axle (not sure why the original buyer ever agreed to that - or me!!) and it never felt bad. And tow our old Escape 900 miles, through the mountains, on a dolley with no issues.

I towed a 2500+ pound boat with a extra cab compact truck with a 6 ft bed for over 20 years. There was nothing squirrelly about it.. A 3k boat should be no trouble for any F150.

depends more on how the trailer is loaded than anything to do with long bed versus short bed.

The ranger's or the dolly's tires were not inflated properly, and/or the tire straps were not cranked down enough. The straps are C+1 - one clack more than you think you can apply. I always check the tires on rentals, they are often low.
