Default Towing 4k boat with 2.7

I bought my truck late last fall and have not had a chance to tow anything with it yet. Only 9500 kms on the clock. Anyways, I hook onto my boat, around 3800# for weight. I can't believe how easy this thing tows it. I just put it in tow mode and let the truck do it's thing, The 10 speed shifts perfectly, engine runs great, and just chugs along. It can pull a hill easy at 2000 rpm's. Not saying better or worse, only that it's way different than my last 5.0L.

I understand these 2.7's aren't meant to pull a 10k trailer, but for these lighter loads, what a perfect setup. Always been a V8 guy, so this is my first EB.
Sorry, not much of a post, not anything broken or asking for help, just was so excited that it worked so well, figured I'd put out another good word for the little 2.7

I've towed at about 10k lbs GCW with my 2.7 and it was perfectly fine. I bought it to tow @ 14k lbs GCW, and I'm expecting it to feel laden but adequate.

The 2.7 wasn't an option when I bought my truck. I didn't need the 3.5 EB and the 5.0 does what I need. Fuel mileage is at least as good as the 3.5 and the truck cost less. But when the time comes for a new truck the 2.7 in a properly equipped truck will get a serious look.

Funny thing, a 5.0 with HD Tow, 36 gal Tank, Locking R. Axle, 3.55 (or 3.73 if you want the 9.75 R. Axle) and Trailer Brake Controller cost a good bit more than a 3.5EB Max Tow.

I looked at a 2.7EB with 2.7 Payload Package (HD Tow Package Required) to get from 6600 GVWR to 6900 GVWR and tow a 7000 lb trailer and it turned out a 7000 GVWR 3.5EB with the Med Tow Package was cheaper.

In the newer Trucks we have found the 5.0 gets about 0.5 mpg worse (not enough to matter) and the 2.7EB about 2 mpg better than the 3.5EB.

If you need to tow 6000 lb or less the $995 2.7EB and $95 53B Med Tow Package (Used to be the hitch package before they included all the cooling upgrades) really is the best bang for the buck. It's actually the most responsive and quickest feeling of the 3 trucks. If I hadn't needed a little more GVWR I would have bought an '18 (I had a '15).
