Tow Ratings... Rant On!

I think you can see the plug if you look up from under the dash. It should be attached or close to the cubby hole by the trailer back-up assist

XL 101A Sport 2.7EB 3.15
Factory Hitch
That's the problem. The truck does exist. I'm guessing a running change in standard gear that never got added to configurator.
Doesn't really matter. We will just use the 2017 numbers.
I think Trans Temp Gauge and Digital Trans Temp in the Productivity Screen is standard but the Truck also came with the 4-Pass Aux Trans Cooler.
Only difference we can for this truck for the $800 difference between hitch option and trailer tow package is Alternator and possibly the front swaybar and battery. Truck even had the wiring for the Ford Trailer Brake Controller.
His open car trailer is under 5000 lb so he should be okay on warranty anyway.

2016 RCSB 122 (Built July 2016)
XL 101A Sport 2.7EB
53B Class IV Hitch
1. Reputed to be an "Extra" built to use up parts. No order.
2. 3.15 Open Diff (Non-Published Combo) which is listed on the sticker as "No Cost".
3. Auxiliary Trans Cooler - Available as stand alone option through fleet sales but is not on the sticker.
4. Does not have 260 Amp Alternator so it was not built with full 53A. It does have the solid front swaybar.
Dealers theory is that it was originally supposed to be a fleet order but was equipped with 3.15 axle to get off the line when 3.31 Axle was out of spec and/or shipment late. They then built another correct truck for the fleet order. The optional Aux Trans Cooler couldnt be coded as a consumer option and therefore does not appear on sticker.

The theory makes sense. The reason I asked was I had a car with mixed years parts as the manufacturer ran out the old model year and used some parts from the new model year to finish the vehicle. It was always an adventure going to the parts store as you had to look at both model years to find the right part.

I'm going to leave it alone now.
Like I said I was a little upset at Ford for refusing to give us a tow rating.
2.7EB 3.15 apparently has no tow rating.
NOT "Towing Not Recommended" just no existing rating that anyone can find.
We are going with 5000 lb unless someone can come up with something better (since that's what a base no tow package truck has).

You have the same braking power as the trucks with max tow anyway
The 3.73 will help the engine and make the transmission work less .
I would stay around the max as if u had the tow package. The only thing u may hurt is transmission life without the cooler . But I only tow local you may be a interstate tower and want to play it super safe nothing wrong with that.
