Default Tires for the HD 17in wheel

Finally found a HD payload and max tow unit in stock.

Anyone know a more capable tire for both towing and better off road that will fit the stock 17in rim. I'm not sure how wide that rim is.

I did find a few aftermarket 7 lug X 150 wheels. I'd like to save some money and stick with the stock wheel unless I need more width or offset to get the right tire.

Checking the numbers with F150 with both packages approaches the current Ram 2500 in terms of payload and towing cap. I was impressed.

BFG ATs are available for that rim. You might have to go to a 265 from the 245. Bridgestone REVO II are available in a 245 or 265 as well. I am sure there is a Nitto in that size, but as I recall, they did not quite meet the weight spec of the OE tires. Of course there is always Michelins LTX M/S2 and/or A/T2.

Thanks I thought a 265 might be the best compromise for road, trailering and off road.

Default Tires for the HD 17in wheel

tduncan53: where did you find the unit. I have been looking for one to test drive and no one seems to have any in that configuration. I dont want to order and then be unhappy.

I can not find any in my area either. It looks like most people who own the HD payload f150's have ordered them

My dealer will stock the HD payload, but only in XL formats. If you want an XLT or Lariat you have to order it. The dealer I have in Houston is the largest dealer in the Houston area, and 3 or 4 in the country. They do not regularly stock 6.5 foot configurations in SCrew in anything but XL either!

Cool

My dealer here in Lehighton, PA has 4 xlt screw 6.5 bed, ecoboost in stock. Said that that is the way he will order stock trucks from now on along with a few other styles.

I had my stock wheels and a 2.5 front level with 285/70/17 BFG all terrain T/a Ko's for a few months until i got some aftermarket wheels. Fit fine with no rubbing at all. not sure if they would clear without the level though.

its a pain in the *** to find decent wheels that are 7 on 150. I got mine from 4wp and they ended up having MHT drill mine for free. walked out the door with 4 custom drilled wheels for 750... not bad
