Tires
Looking for a good at tire for my 2015. I have 275 65 18 wrangler fortitude ht rated at 2756. Tt dry is 4300 tw of 540 dry. Current tires feel squishy. First tow was horrible, wdh being check monday. I had the psi at 42 all around. Truck was difficult to hold one lane at 60 to 65 mph. By the load rating, looks like i have c rated tires? Max load 2756@50 but they are stamped SL. Looking at nitto g2 XL has the same max rating of 2756 but the tire is 5 pounds heavier. E rated are 10 pounds heavier. Will i take a big mpg or performance hit wth this weight range. Wrangers weigh 39 pounds.

If you want a more stable towing tire, you're going to have to go with an E rated tire and run it in the upper end of it's pressure range. You'll notice a firmer ride but the mileage difference due to tire weight will be almost nothing.

Those tires are P rated, SL stands for standard load. I am running 6 ply rated Toyo AT2's and they made a huge difference. I didn't notice any loss in mileage or power and they are quiet. I am still having a very slight sway on the freeway but I don't think that is the tires because I ran the same tires on my Chevy without a problem but on that truck I had added an extra leaf to the springs.

4300 lbs towed with a 530 TW is not that big of a load. I believe you need a WDH adjustment. You should be able able to run your current tires and have a good controlling rig. I would likely run the rear tires at max PSI when towing.

Ive run on P metric most of my towing life, always run the max psi which for my GY was 44. I also run a E-qual-izer WD system and have over 40k km on my TT which comes in at 6200# loaded. I've towed through SK AB BC, ND SD MT WY ID OR CO CA,
Million dollar highway, beartooth pass...I've never felt like my tires let me down

Pulled my 6300# trailer up and over the Rockies with Bridgestone Duellers on 20" wheels, never noticed any tire squish, in fact the ride was pretty stable even in 30 MPH cross winds. My 16 came with the Goodyear LT's and the ride was horrible, very bouncy, so put the Bridgestones from the 14 on it, and the ride firmed up nicely.
It isn't the load rating of the tire that firms up the ride as much as it is lack of sidewall. Even E rated tires can be squishy if they have tall sidewalls. The GY LT have a higher load rating than the Bridgestones, but a softer ride.
