In case you couldn't tell, the general consensus is BAD IDEA. If your buying a truck to tow a 5 ton DRY weight trailer, buy a diesel.

I posted it as an early April fool's joke, but to prove a point. Anybody who ignores the factory tow ratings and uses 3rd party permissive advice to exceed the design limitations has nobody to blame but themselves when their vehicle lets them down. I know - I've done it.

Three different questions here:

Can you do it? - Sure, provided you have the right size ball (or should this be *****)
Should you do it? - What size ball do you have?
Is it legal? - No, but then again so many "fun" things are not legal.

BTW, it you do this, please post pictures of the aftermath.
