Spectators bashing idea of using 3.5 EB to tow 7-8k TT. But why

Anyone? I told some of my plans to haul a 7-8k TT and the next thing I know is, "it's unsafe, can't do it, would never even try, what if you run in to weather, but we are just trying to save your life, it'll be so hard going up hills" etc, from anyone with a mouth.

is there legitimacy to this notion that an F150 should not haul 7-8k? are people unaware of the advancements in F150 to capacity?

All F150's are not equal in their ability to handle a travel trailer. It really depends on what F150 you're talking about. I would have no reservations about hauling an 8K travel trailer with my truck (see signature). My travel trailer is a little smaller at 27 foot and 6,600 GVWR. But with that, and running 18% tongue weight I haven't even used sway control on my round bar hitch and there doesn't seem to be a need.

2018 F150,
3.5 EB
4x4
Max-tow.
18,000 GCWR, 10,400 gooseneck,

I am no expert, but I am guessing it's the payload that you're likely very close to or even going over without having the HDPP option.

It's not that it wont pull it, it will, it's the safety aspect/legal aspect of it.

I only have 18xx payload on my max tow eco, so I would be hard pressed to pull that and stay within limits. Consider my weight, my girlfriend, all our gear, my tools and junk I have in truck at all times plus the tongue weight of trailer. If I had a guest or two then no way could I do it.

Their arguments have had nothing to do with actual numbers such as tongue weight, GCWR, GVWR or payload. Only "get an F250 - no way id use a half ton truck - but what about hills and weather - just because an F150 can doesnt mean it should - etc)

It has ONLY had to do with the fact that I am using an F150, and not a 250/350, to haul an 8k TT.

The actual numbers count. I bet you will be close to payload capacity if not over it when you add up tongue weight of a loaded camp ready trailer, passengers, and cargo in the truck.

Nope. Im within #'s. Like I said, only "get an F250" blah blah blah.

If I towed a lot, I would prefer a Super Duty for an 8k trailer.

Same here. But why do people bash it and call it basically illegal if you dont have a super duty.

They are probably thinking you are overloaded, which you may be after you load truck, trailer, and visit a set of scales.
