Show off those leaf springs for science

My previous truck, a Ram 1500, had some reverse bow on the rear leaf springs. It had been used to tow fairly heavy by the previous owner (like around 9000 lbs, which is about the marketer's limit, and probably overloaded in the real world). He moved up to an F-450 stake bed so he can tow a lot more and haul some load. He does some landscaping work on the side.
The truck still rode nice, with a little rake so I never messed with them. Had I intended to tow more than my little 3500 pound single axle with it, I might have gotten them replaced.

Thanks for the heads up mass-hole! I've been talking with Jeff over at Deaver all week and I have my truck lined up for Monday morning. Going to do a custom install, remove the 5.5" block and put in a 4" block which reduces the axle wrap possibility and they are going to get me a progressive spring put together that keeps the same lift. It accomplishes everything I wanted to do including getting rid of that giant lift block. Thanks for the recommendation.

I've toyed with having them make me a set of +1" lift springs with block delete. So it would put me 1" over stock but with no lift block. The back of my truck seems a little saggy lately as its been carrying a leer cap for 4 years and other stuff.

After a 2000 mile round trip to the Oregon Coast, I can say that having an upgraded suspension can never be over rated. I ended up putting the firestone bags on the truck last minute after getting a three leaf pack installed with Deaver and my truck has never driven nicer under load. I did get the onboard wireless air and changing that on the fly after unhooking the rig and heading into town was amazing.
For the leafs: I had sag on the drivers side, confirmed by measurement and a suspension shop but after pulling the springs off the truck, they are now the exact same size again. It was big enough to notice a 1.5" difference in stance but I think for a budget price I could have easily gotten away with AAL or RAS if I was not towing 8k every other month.
Overall I am expressly pleased with my set up. The 3/1 leaf pack does add around an inch to 1.5" so I dropped block height from 5.5" to 4" and the truck stays level to the naked eye.

So, let me get this straight, the leaf springs shouldn't have a downwards bow in front of the axle and an upwards one behind it? I looked at mine a week or so ago and noticed the spring has a twist of some sort in it, not a nice bow end to end. I tried to take a picture, but it was hard to make out the twist.
