The thermostat doesn’t even allow flow through the cooler until you hit 180f or so.
While looking into adding the auxiliary trans cooler to my truck, I discovered that the 5.0 drivetrain is the only one of the four combinations to actually have a trans fluid *heater* as well as (when things get hot) the standard, in-radiator-tank trans cooler setup. It must be because the 5.0 develops no appreciable torque (until later).
