??? Roadmaster may make this claim, but it's not true.

The truck's GVWR and payload as set by Ford are based on many factors, not just the capability of the rear springs.

Rear axle bearings, brakes, drivetrain to name a few.

Maybe what they mean by that is that you have that much more weight until you bottom out.

Thanks for the pics and how it went with the install mark5w. Did you use the tighter setting when you got the 1/4 raise in the rear? If you look at the pics of my truck with the trailer on it it seams to be squatting more than 2". I need to measure it next time I have it hooked up.

Does anyone know if I removed the middle leaf spring and added a new leaf from auto spring (an AAL) if that would be better than the stock spring? Or if it wouldn't make any difference at all? I would be doing this and getting the RAS....But adding a spring to the existing springs without removing one would make the rear end too stiff....I think.

Also, would installing the Bilstein 5100 shocks help with sag at all?

When you buy the kit they give you two spacers. One about the thickness of a dime, the other about a quarter. They told me to use the thicker (quarter) one and if I'm not satisfied to use both stacked on each other.
I'm well aware about the stats from Ford on axle, bearings etc.
Next step Bilstein shocks and EBC Yellowstuff Sport brakes.

I think that I am getting harsh axle wrap under load. I wonder if I would be waiting my time with trying to get the dealer to figure out a fix or should I just get the RAS. My shudder is happening from a dead to acceleration. I have a 2013 xlt Eco boos supercab 6.5 bed.

Check out their website, http://www.activesuspension.com/ even better call them and talk to them about axle wrap. It sure eliminated mine.

Hey guys just came across this thread, love the discussion on the RAS!

Cmerollin, this looks like a perfect RAS application. One of the benefits of our product is the adjustability on the preset tension of our spring as some of the guys have mentioned. The key here is finding the optimum tension setting for each application. As far as stock ride height is concerned, I have seen anywhere from 1/4"-1 1/2" raise(depending on the tension setting). With your application I would recommend going with the in between white/black disc, on a newer F150 this should raise the rear by about 3/4" stock ride height(barely noticeable).

We are always careful to set the proper expectation on what the RAS does from a payload standpoint and because of the way it works with the existing leaf springs, we use a % instead of a flat number. You should see a 40% increase in payload(without the rear dropping) over and above what you would see normal stock. We do not and no other company can claim to increase the GVWR, we can however strengthen the leaf springs which has a positive affect on the squat and ride control.

If you haven't already I would encourage you to search RAS or Active Suspension on the site, lots of happy customers on here! We also have a standing F150forum group rate of $325 FWIW. Feel free to post any questions or call me direct at 800-398-5036.

Going to the dealer will only make you mad. Installing the RAS should make you happy from every thing I have read in that thread.

Hey Guys, new to the forum. I am experiencing the starting from a stop shudder. It's quite annoying. I tow a 27 ft fifth wheel camper. I used to have a 2008 5.4L 6.5ft screw, and upgraded to a 2013 Ecoboost 6.5ft screw. Old truck no shudder ever, new truck lots of shudder. After reading about axle wrap, the low end torque of the ecoboost is causing the shudder at take off. The 5.4L didn't have low end torque like this, so i guess it didn't happen. I barely notice it with one passenger, more noticeable with 6 people, very noticeable with camper hooked up. I am interested in trying the RAS system, as I love everything about this truck, but can't stand the shudder....my wife freaks out about it when it happens.

Guess I should spend the $$ on this.

Thanks for all the input and great posts about this issue.

Shocks are a dampener, the spring carries the weight. A shock can make the ride seem rough by dampening too quickly.
