2016 F150 Trailer Brake Controller Self Install
So I purchased my F150 back in the spring and realized recently that I need the trailer brake controller for a travel trailer I will be towing. Dealership wants $195 for part and another $225 for install which seems crazy. I can get the part online for under $100 and it appears a part to flash the memory myself for about $30. My question is who has experience installing the part and flashing the memory and is it as easy as it looks on some of the videos I have seen. Also, is there anything in particular I need to be aware of.
I could get an aftermarket installed for $150 but it wouldn't integrate nicely with truck and it's more expensive.
Any help is greatly appreciated for this new truck owners.

Cant help you on the programming part.
But the actual install of the controller is quite easy depending on your trim level and interior configuration.
Here is a video I did on the install in my XLT with center console.

Mine came with the controller, but I have made some changes with forscan and it is really seamless. Once you connect with the truck, just make the required change and save. 5 minutes of time to complete.
