Remember it's always better to be safe than sorry. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Did you even read Sean's calculations? He was very careful to stay within the specs of his truck and get an appropriate fiver.

Yes, I did. His GVW is 7200. His truck weighs 6160. His remaining payload is 1040 lbs. (Did he have his entire family in the truck when he weighed? The weight of his hitch?) His DRY pin weight is 1090. His wet/loaded weight is higher. Dry weights do not include trailer options, fluids (tank contents), RV contents (cargo, food, clothing, dishes, etc), propane, etc.

He is overloaded. (Even driving without his spare tire.)

Generic blanket statement. How does this sort of statement improve or add to this particular thread? If you would like to start a thread with such a comment or have a fact filled thread rather than off the cuff posts then let's do that. The FACT (backed up by CAT scale weights) is that with the right combination of 5'r and F-150HD you can indeed haul a 5'r and be within weights.

Are there some that do it and ignore weights? Of course there are. Are there some that have oil burners and haul outside specs and weights, yes of course there are. Is that 'virtually all'? No of course not.

I should have qualified my statement. I meant that many people pulling 5er's with F150s are overloaded. You will also note in one of my previous posts that I excepted the HD payload package. My point is that many F150/5er combinations really are overloaded.

I believe my previous post had some facts in it that related to the original post (of the referenced thread). Those figures will be pretty close to what many, if not most, 1/2 ton trucks are going to see.

Fair enough acadianbob, and I didn't mean to come off like I was swinging for the fences (even though in re-reading my post it does). .

Just hits a little close to home given that I am one of those combos with a 5'r and I won't be overloaded .

More than a few of us, Beest. Now if we can only get Ford to add HD payload to the short box. I can't find a suggestion box on ford.com.
