It's amazing how much the back up camera has helped me in this department.

I have the stickers now and it requires more than I can do in the driveway
to calibrate it. I hope it will be helpfull for wify to back me down on the ramp.
Boat ramps are nearly always drama invested so Im thinking this is just a fun toy.

I swear backing up an empty jetski trailer makes people think I don't know how to do so.
I never towed a tiny trailer with my truck, but I have done the little yard carts with my Kubota, and THIS I 100% agree with and can see this doohickey being invaluable for these trailers.

I had a small utility trailer that I had to put a fiberglass flag pole on the back of it so I could see where it was when I backed it up. I know some people scratched their heads when they saw this trailer going down the road with a flag on it.

You have to make a case before you can rest it. I would argue the case that if a person owns a trailer, they should be reasonably skilled at maneuvering it.

maybe you should have read above that quote for some context prior to commenting. i'm sure that my definition of reasonably skilled is different than yours, which is different from the next guys. at the end of the day it's a tool, and all of you that just write it off or don't try it because you're such pro's are really just the same fools that i sit and laugh at as you attempt to back your jacked up truck down a long steep ramp and go back and forth across all the lanes, because you're not quite as reasonably skilled as you may have thought.

I DID read your previous post for context and all I saw was you sneering at those who don't like the Back-up Assist. Apparently you need it, so I say enjoy it and be happy. Personally I can back/park a trailer faster and more accurately by actually driving the truck using my own hands, eyes and brain.

I have not set this up yet. But, I was telling my brother it might be hand when you are backing a small trailer down a steep ramp.

But, then reading this thread, I realized you have the back-up camera now anyway.

I park my atv trailer in front of the garage and then my truck next to the trailer. I have a circular driveway that the wife and son use to park. But, in order to allow room for people to walk beside my truck comfortably to get to the door. I have to back real close to the trailers wheel well.

I just got my '17 truck. And it's the first one I have owned with a back up camera. Just retired my 2000 F150.

The backup camera does not help backing close to the trailer. As it makes all kind of noise that is just a distraction from what I have to do. Still, I am not the best at judging how much room is between me and a car or wall I am backing up to ( I use the lights to judge distance). So, the back up camera is definitely a useful tool.

I have to remember the camera is there and use it for it's usefulness to show. Maybe, it will turn out that the trailer assist has uses I don't foresee. The only way I will ever know is to try it.

You should see what the 360 camera setup can give you. You can see the trailer, and there are guide lines to help park in tight spaces. If I had a choice between the silly **** on the dash, or the 360 camera, I'll take the camera. I'll give the silly **** a try and see how well it works, if it helps the wife to back the trailer, then its handy, if not, then its still a silly ****.

If it was helpfull I want to try it . Anyone have thoughts on the 2017
PTBA ??
I have it on a 2016. I rarely pull trailers so there's a learning curve every time. About 2 months ago I helped my son move into a new apartment about 80 miles away. I made a simple adapter to place the sticker on a 10' U-Haul.

I love the PTBA! There were some tight spots, especially at home. The PTBA made the backing so nice . . . mainly because it helps the trailer hold a straight line. It does have a restricted turn radius, and due to user error it cut out occasionally, but in general I really like the tool.

If I towed all the time I might not use it, and I can back a trailer without it, but the PTBA made it fun.
