I just ordered a 3/4T 6.6L gas GMC Denali. Even with a 1650# payload, I am overweight towing a 6500# loaded trailer with 800# of tongue weight measure at a CAT scale. I have a shell on mine.
And do consider every item the owner adds to their truck reduces the available payload,
for example
-160 pounds for a truck cap
-90 pounds for weight distribution hitch
-25 pounds for bed matt
-30 pounds for stuff in the cab (water, maps, phones, clothes, etc)
-25 pounds floor matts
so a 1650# payload now has only 1320# payload available...

Exactly...that's why starting with a PB with even lower payload, makes it even worse. It's why we are selling our F150 and buying a 3/4T truck.

Would be interested to know which F250 motor you are shopping for.
And I read that the F350 pricing is only slightly more that F250

I wouldn't be running a $20K truck at idle for hours let alone a $50k or $70K truck!
Lithium batteries and a 90 amp charge rate split between 2 batteries is reality for me. Not sure why exaggerates their assumptions to prove a point? regarding idling a truck, they spend hundreds of hours idling for commercial use or in the north where they can go weeks without being shut off.

"lower" payload is only an issue if it's lower than what you need, if not, it's a smoother ride and more agile truck than an excessively sized on 100% of the time.

I have that too since I use Victron Multiplus2(actually 120A) but since I mainly boondock, my 1000W of solar keeps my 460AH battery charged and I don't need a generator. No need to run a generator on a $70K truck..

What's your payload on yopur Power Boost?

When are you going to show your CAT scale numbers?

I am buying a GMC Denali 2500 with the 6.6L gas motor. I want independent front suspension and the Ford F250 is a solid axle. The Payload is going to be over 3000# so no need for a 3500. I may buy another larger boat in the future...28' and likely pushing over 8000# so the 1/2T won't cut it at all.

If I were going to get the F250, I would buy the 7.3L engine.

If you follow the online "experts" when buying a truck, you really need to buy something like a F450 dually. Not that you need it now, but you just might someday, and you can never have enough truck so why buy a 3/4ton. But on the other hand, once you've been around awhile online you realize the "experts' are not!!!

In my case, I actually need it now since scaling the truck with my current travel trailer it shows me quite a bit over my rear axle spec limit.

But mine doesn't run for hours. It only runs a few minutes per hour. A PB that's working like it's supposed to will only run for a few minutes every hour.

Maybe the ones you were next too were the non PB trucks that Ford had the cockamamie idea to market a 2 Kw generator. That idea was stupid. To use that "generator" the truck engine did have to run the entire time the "generator" was in use.
