You can get the Lariat with the 8 ft box and HDPP? That's interesting. BTW my 2011 with 8 ft box and HDPP has a gross weight of 8,200lb and payload of only 2,200. Empty weight is then 6,000 lb.
Your empty weight is about 5,447. Savings of about 550 lb.

My buddy just got a 2017 Tahoe LS with the tow package, checked his door and it was over 1,700 lbs payload - I was like WTF?!?! So technically I'd be better off towing with that Tahoe than my F150 with a 1,190 payload. grrr. Oh and the icing on the cake? Comes with auto leveling airbag suspension and electronic ride dampers.

Any supercab has an available 8' box I believe. SuperCrew can only go to 6.5 for the half tons (I think 3/4 and above the 8' is available on the SCREW).

HDPP is also available with only the 300a XLT or 500a Lariat. You can't get it with the 301/302 or 501/502.

I know the feeling....my Ridgeline had a 1530# payload....I expected it to be easy to find a "real truck" that was much more capable.

Nope...especially when looking at crew cabs. Apparently, you can tow a trailer or carry passengers...but not both. Which makes no sense.

IMHO... MAX TOW should include the HDPP on a crew cab.

Well, that's somewhat not true because I'm seeing these full size SUV's with ~9,000 lb towing capacity and 1,700 lb payload...while the towing capacity is lower, it's plenty for what you'd tow with a 1/2 ton... So With a Tahoe, I could bring the grandparents along (which I can't do now) and still be within the payload capacity (which I can't do now)...

Imagine what a 2018 Expedition MAX will do.... Honestly, if they come out with a Diesel version - my F150 is getting traded in.

Although the payload is high, usually the GCWR much lower for SUVs - ideal for huling tons of kids and stuff, not as ideal for pulling a camper behind.

Also, with the shorter wheelbase of the SUVs I would imagine it would make for a more difficult towing experience then with the longer F-150s.

That being said, 1,190 lbs payload on your F150 seems unusually low - mine is 1,865 for a crew cab / 6.5' bed.
