Rock Ford...I'm sure you've thought of this, but why don't you put 500 pounds in the back of your truck when without camper to improve the ride. Sand bags that are 50 to 75 pounds each so you can easily throw them in and out of the truck??

Thanks for that, the truck listed in my signature was totaled so the idea is to find the HDPP on a new truck. From prior posts I have read, the ride on the factory built truck while empty is acceptable or even pretty good.

I hope so...I did tons of research and ordered an '18 Lariat with HDPP/Max Tow. They come with C load rated tires that run at 48 psi, but tire selection is super limited in that rating. Michelin recommends E load rated with the 7850 GVW truck ratings (I emailed them), so I am concerned about ride and thinking when empty I will do the sand bags thing...we shall see.

with the “C” rated tires from the factory I ran 40-41psi unloaded and it rides really well. Almost not a noticeable difference in ride from non HDPP to HDPP. Ive switched to “E” rated tires and i run 50psi unloaded and its not quite as good of a ride. I havent tried 40psi in the E tires yet.

Just purchased a 2018 F-150 SCREW 4x4 XLT 301A, HDPP, Max Tow, 3.5EB, FX4, Tow mirrors, Tailgate step, Fixed running boards, bed lights, Sync 3. The ride is firm and smooth empty, stock "C" rated tires at 40 psi. Haven't towed with it yet since I'm still breaking it in.

Thumbs up

To my eye that is a great looking truck Gladehound...good job. I like the proportions of the 6.5' bed, the wheels, the amount of chrome (not too much), looks like a Truck!!

Thanks! One of the cosmetic things I really like about the HDPP trucks is the stance is a more truck like height compared to the non-HDPP F150. Yet, unlike the F250, it will still fit under the bar in the underground garage at work.

That sure looks like a nice truck. If that's Magnetic Grey, I have an identical truck on order (same options but with center console & sync connect, but no FX4), scheduled to be built week of Jan 08, 2018. Curious what my yellow payload sticker will say?

Gladehound, what's your hitch receiver capacity sticker say, 13,200 lbs or 12,200 lbs?

Yes, it's Magnetic Grey. Looks really nice in the sun. I think you'll like it! Receiver is marked 12,200 / 1,220 WD and 5,000 / 500 WC. The tow rating on the HDPP is ~11,500. The higher rating requires 20" wheels and no HDPP. Post your sticker when you get it... I'm curious!

My 2018 Lariat w/HDPP weighs 5460 lb. The cargo capacity sticker states 2385 lbs. Options are: tailgate step, chrome angular step bar, Nav, 110V outlet, and Ruby Red paint. It has a 40/20/40 seat in Med. Lt. Camel.
