I have a 2018 Sundance xlt 283rb that just a hair bigger, pulls great.

I hope you did a very though pre delivery checklist, heartlands qc sucks to put it nicely, we have had tons of issues with it and its costing me a ton of $$ and time.

I'm finding a bunch of little things. Some stuff I could handle (but I choose not to at this time because it's brand freakin' new) like slide lights and radio blowing fuses, and a couple window leak issues that the dealer is already jumping on. The rest of it is pretty solid and we're very happy with it. I was hoping to be able to put a hitch on and attach to the frame in the back, but of course the entire underside is covered. Not sure the rear bumper will support any weight (even a bike rack) but i'll be calling them to ask.

It's not just Heartland's QC. Grand Design hasn't impressed me a bit. It's the dealer that can make or break it. You are right to hold them to everything. I imagine few do but they are supposed to do a dealer PDI before you get there.

They all suck, but I have been exceptionally disappointed in Heartland. Screw on the floor that they laid flooring over top of, all 3 sinks were not tight/leaked or have came apart multiple time, disconnected rear air duct, cabinet doors are falling apart, awning is pulling off the side of the camper, plus it was not installed level to begin with and collects water in the middle, multiple staples popping up on the roof that required the roof be pulled back and them to be pulled, poor braking performance, unacceptable wiring for the pig tail in a galvanized double gang box exposed to the weather that corroded and gave me issues and it looks like the fridge was not installed right and it's shifting pulling the black bezel away from the camper and I have to keep siliconing it. Tons of other small things too.

Dealer was useless on almost everything, they either needed it for months at a time or blamed us and refused to cover it. At this point we would have been miles ahead by keeping our 2008 starcraft 21sso, 5 years of ownership and all I had to do was maintenance, and we could actually camp because it wasn't parked at the dealer.

funny you mention Grand Design. I'm admin on a facebook RV group and those people SWEAR by grand design.

I'm not delusional enough to think they all don't have problems. We bought an extended warranty, and I had an external coating applied. I don't want to F with any of the major stuff, but if i'm so inclined I may pull the electrical box out and check all the grounds behind it to solve the fuse popping deal. Not sure. As for the window leaks, I think the window was broken out by the kitchen at the manufacturer. Found some glass in a slot behind the stove in an inaccessible compartment. Its OEM glass so I am fairly confident it didn't happen at the dealer. FWIW the dealer has been great and my salesman responds to my texts and mentioned bringing up these issues with management. We'll see how far this gets. Either way i'm probably dropping it off this weekend as i'll be out of town for 2 weeks, they can work on it while i'm gone. I'll have a list.

I know I got the same read in doing my due diligence one big reason I chose to go that route. Manufacturing QC, dealer and customer support has not born that out, in fact it's been a fight. Funny thing is I had a Forest River Flaggstaff that everyone loves to slam that never had a problem beyond normal wear and tear. I sent a PM re: warranty.

You would be doing yourself a huge favor by getting a nice waterproof distribution box off amazon for $10 and redoing the junction box. They must have been low on wire nuts the day mine was built because a lot of the connections were just twisted and taped which led to the corrosion.

I'll take a good look at it today. I'm more concerned about why i'm blowing radio and slide light fuses. Again may be a bad ground situation that I ran into on my last TT which just required me pulling the ground out from the ground strap and re-inserting and tightening.

Knock on wood my Coleman has been great. Only repairs made were to a busted vent cover from hail damage, the flap for the hood vent, and a seal for one hub. Everything else has been upgrades to make it better, like a stainless steel kitchen sink, larger jackknife sofa, queen mattress, and a few other items. I did have to do some minor repairs due to the very lightweight construction of the cabinets and dinette, but that is to be expected.

It was happy as a lark cruising at 65 in 8th gear even up overpasses. I got into 9th a few times. I think a tow tune might be in my future.....

They set up the 12k equalizer, but it's got a little bit of sag (I do have a level on the front) but i'm not sure if they set it up right. Seems like more sag than I expected. Of course, it's a heavy camper (and I found out at home they didn't drain the freshwater tank as I asked them to before leaving).

Heck of a day yesterday as I spent the better part of the morning destroying my inlaws yard trying to get the old camper out. Truck got stuck, but was able to unhitch from the old unit and drive the truck out under its own power. Rented a bobcat (with tires, not tracks...of course the one with tracks was unavailable) and that thing dug in and rutted the yard some more. Suffice to say I owe my inlaws a truck of dirt and labor to spread it around. sheesh.
Hell of a storm huh? We were at Lazy Days when it hit!
