Padlocks - Avoid Master Locks

Way back when in my youth I worked at a Mobil in the bays. On a weekly basis there was an average of three people that locked there keys in their car, so I bought a door entry kit off the tool truck. When my services were required it took all of 10 seconds. Watching the looks on people's faces was the fun part. To this day, there are very few vehicles I can't get in quickly. Having had door panels off of a multitude of vehicles it's very easy to tell where the rods run, and how to move them. I still have that kit. A good lock only keeps honest people honest.

Abloy PL362 anyone? 
Stronk finnish engineering might not be impossible to crack but sure is for your average thief and takes an experienced lockpicker some time. Last time I checked there was an exploit around Abloy's tech but it really drives the amateurs away and it's not like any of us can afford or get a hold of a Sargent Greenleaf 951 so there's really nothing beyond the PL362...
Locking up an expensive bike or trailer with a Master Lock is just asking for it. Would you lock up something worth thousands of dollars with a piece of hardware that approaches dollar store-quality?

I've heard of people around here having trouble finding their house keys when they move out because they haven't seen them since they moved in, and on any given day of the week during the winter, you can choose from half a dozen running pickups from half-ton to full-ton in gas and diesel configurations at the grocery store. It's all about relative risk factors.

Today almost every padlock manufacturer carries a high-end line of commercial padlocks with boron alloy shackle that is advertised as almost impossible to cut. However, this is not true. With time anyone is getting in there. That's why we recommend double locking your things. Put an additional hasp and padlock on whatever you are trying to keep safe.
