I'm a hands on kind of person who enjoys the challenge and hates spending money so no big deal for me. That being said I appreciate your not wanting to take on the job yourself, LOL.
I will say that once you get the hang of Forscan there are so many other things you can do with it....like making your own spare keys if you only got one with the truck, re-calibrating your speedometer for different size tires, etc. All of these mods combined made it worthwhile (fiscally and personal satisfaction wise, LOL) for me.

If I was like you, Narly1, and would be decking the truck with boughs of holly I'd absolutely go DIY with Forscan and OBD. But this is quite possibly the only modification I'll be making from a mechanical/electrical standpoint. Just not in the cards to invest in the equipment that folks such as yourself get a lot of use out of. I do however spend an inordinate amount of money on woodworking tools. That's 70% of the reason I bought the truck, so I could haul wood and supplies I need. I got sooooooo tired of renting that Home Depot truck, standing in line at the customer service counter like a fool, fingers crossed that some other fool like me hadn't already taken it, whilst other people with shiny pickup trucks rolled up to the pro area and took their wood home like a boss. Now I'm the boss. Take that, Tony Danza!

If you are in an area with several Ford dealers shop around for the install. When I had mine installed I had fixed rate quotes from $125 just to activate it in the software to $99 to install the hardware and activate it. I ended up at a dealer in a nearby small town who charged me their hourly rate. Since it only took half hour to install the hardware and activate it I ended up paying $45.
