OEM Brake Controller Question *NEWBIE*
Hey folks, new member here. I have a 2015 F150 and just installed an OEM brake controller. I have the tow package so it was a super easy, plug/play install. I was going to take it to the dealership to have it installed (quoted me $150 urgh).
Question I have is: are the +/- icons supposed to light up like the rest of the dash buttons? Mine are not and wasn't sure if that was an indication of some sort of faulty connection or parts issue.
Thanks in advance!

Nope, they are not lighted. Would be nice to be able to see them at night to adjust while driving, but usually once the gain is set you never have to touch them unless you switch trailers without adding it to the trailer screen.
I did the trailer brake install on my 16 - I had to bring it to the dealership to be enabled. At night the + - do light up as other dash lighted switches do. It cost me $85 & had that and the Ford LED bed light kit activated at the same time.

My 2015 lights up. Wait until it is programmed to check its function. It wouldn't surprise me that any unique OEM connection is disabled until the computer knows the device is there.
I'd also shop around on the activation cost. I had local dealers quote me a fixed rate of $145, $90/hr for one hour labor and the one I had install and activate mine was $45 for actual half an hour it took to install.

AHA! OK mine does light up. I just can't see it from my sitting position unless I look right down at it and never noticed that they light up. The 14 was easier to see than the 16 is, its on an angle down. I have my interior lighting turned down so that may have something to do with it.
