Default OD question

At what point do you stop using OD while towing? When the trans brakes?

Depends on what year/engine/trans you have. I tow ~6k lb (jeep on equipment trailer) with my 2012 at 70-75mph in OD. Just put it tow/haul mode and go. Sometimes I lock out 6th (hills or headwinds). My dad with his 03 F150 with the 5.4 with a lighter jeep and lighter trailer (probably 4500#) locks out his O/D (no tow/haul mode).

I tow a 6500 lb travel trailer and I like to lock 6th out when towing this, still getting used to the truck though.

He has an 08 with a 4 speed.. there's no problem kicking it off.. I towed 7500 lbs over 1000 miles with it off.. I have 35" tires which kills my towing power.. no problem .. trans temps stayed under 190.
