Yeah, I think we will go back and look at the used 2014 motorhome again this weekend. Just to have another option, do you think if we picked up a 2015 Eco Screw with tow package we might be in the realm of possibility with 28 ft, 4900 dry weight? Or still a no go?

I really appreciate everyone's help!

Yes, I think that that would work OK. Try to get Max Tow. But, they are hard to find and often need to be ordered. Go to a Ford dealership and look at the payload capacities of some of the trucks on their lot. If you can get up around 1,800 to 2,200, you will have a good margin to play with.

Will do, that helps to know a good range. Thanks.

I just traded my 07 Expedition EL for a 14 F150EB. I have towed our 28 ft Sunny Brook 27FKS about 50,000 miles from coast to coast with the 07 EL and a 04 standard Expedition before it (5.4L in both). The trailer is 7200# empty and I use an Equalizer 4 point hitch/sway control (about 600# effective tongue weight transfer to the truck when loaded to 8000+). The Expedition independent rear suspension is a definite benefit to handling compared to the leaf springs (I had a 98 before the 04; a world of difference) and changes the wheelbase/length ratio considerations.
I really wanted an Expedition EL EB but I can't afford a new 15! For the moment, I love my new truck. I have test towed about 10 miles to check the hitch adjustment and my first trip of 400 miles is next week.

Not knowing how far your traveling why not put wife and kids in a separate vehichle and just take the trailer with the expedition by your self. Seems to me to be a lot cheaper to pay for fuel for two vehicle then to buy an additional $40,000 vehicle. With the family out of the expi payload should no longer be much of an issue.

Wheelbase might still be an issue though . . .

Are you open to a hybrid trailer? You can often get more room and sleeping capacity in a smaller package. Just thinking of alternatives for you.

Haven't seen any of those around here?? I will add it to my shopping list this weekend, we are going to see if we can do some serious running around and evaluating this weekend of both trucks/travel trailers and motorhomes.
And to the other poster, driving two vehicles just seems like a pain since we won't always go local, we would choose the motorhome over doing that I believe.
