It's about 300 lbs for a 4'x6'x5/16" plate which should be about your worst case scenario. If you run a 4x8 sheet, it's about 400 lbs.

Agreed. If you really want a GN, do it right. You could always get a rubber bed mat or a cheap plastic bedliner just before you return the truck.

Best idea for sure. But I guess it depends what part of the country your in. If I were looking for a used truck and saw it had a gooseneck setup, it would be a plus for me. It would also give you the option of dropping in a 5th wheel hookup.

But I must admit that I would have some concerns about the amount of weight the truck had pulled.

I have to laugh because you sound like me. I can overthink something right into the ground.

The trials and tribulations of buying a used pickup. That's why for the past bunch of years, I've bought only new pickups. 1995, 1999.5, and 2012. But I well remember the 1960s when I couldn't afford a new pickup, or even a late-model used pickup, but I had to have a pickup as my second "car", so I had to buy used-up POS pickups.

I guess we can't complain much, first world problems. I have the "need" (strong practical desire actually) for two trucks. The 350 diesel is the travelling truck, it pulls the 5er and hauls the really big loads, firewood, gravel etc.The '13 is my ranch/work truck and carries my tools and gets all the daily miles put on it. Taking the mileage "bullet" is actually a big part of it's job description. I do about 30,000 mi./yr. I've been lucky (and diligent) with my last couple used/2nd trucks. Both the '05 (Son's truck now) and the '13 have been outstanding vehicles. Frankly I SHOULD get a POS for my 2nd truck, then I wouldn't care when I get a scratch or dimple in it.
