I have a 2012 CrewCab EB 4x4 with the 3.73 E-Locker. It came with HD Trailer Towing which I think added the Class IV Hitch/Wiring/On Screen Towing Display. I had to add the Integrated Brake Controller from FORD. With the addition of taller tires (34.25") my effective ratio is ~3.50 and it does great towing a TT @ ~7300#s.

Yes, I currently pull a 29 ft Forest River - Salem Cruise Lite 5900 lb unloaded/ 7300 max loaded. I'm using a 2011 XLT F150 screw 4x4 5.0L 3.55 limited slip. Truck is equipped with Tow Package and cl IV hitch. No problem pulling this. I do use WDH hitch. Also upgraded rear shocks to Monro Sensa track spring assist shocks just for my own comfort. F150 should handle your needs in several configurations. The 3.5 twin turbo seems to be the tow rig motor of preference from ford but I can say the 5.0L does a great job and leave plenty of power.
