Default Motor revs when down shifting

When pulling the camper my 2015 Lariat revs high when down shifting. Is this normal?

Yes if its in tow/haul mode. The tow/haul mode adjusts the shifting pattern of your truck using the downshifting force to aid in slowing/stopping.

Yes, in tow/haul mode, my 3.5 E.B. 10 speed can Rev as high as 5,000 rpm if I tap my brakes enough, and that definitely helps slow the setup.

Someone posted on here that the newer year trucks - once trailer is plugged in the trans goes automatically into tow/haul mode...?

I have a light bar plugged into the trailer outlet, and when I start the truck it says on the gauge cluster that a trailer is connected, but it doesn't put it into Tow/Haul.

It does deactivate the A.S.S though.

YA I suggested that to a guy on here...stick a trailer connector into back to deactivate A S S...
He took offence to the butt plug...

Given the same speed, all engine will rev higher when they downshift. That's just what happens the trans goes to a lower ratio.

Its doing it for engine braking. It can be a bit aggressive for my taste but it does its job.

Only way I know of to put tranny in tow/haul mode is with the button on shifter column.
