Default Maybe my rear springs are F'd.

Hello all.

My 2007 f-150 rides like crap. I've replaced the shocks with Monroe HDs and still feels like a jangly mess. I've noticed an excessive amount of after bounce when pushing on the rear bumper. You push sideways and the truck shakes side to side several times before returning to position.

I think my rear leaves are blown. Anyone have recommendations for spring/suspension replacements? I tow a 28 foot travel trailer with a pro-pride hitch and Weight Distribution system. The last time I hitched, the truck lowered 3" at the rear bumper and I could not get the nose to come down with cranking up the WDH.

Any ideas?

Post pictures of your rear leaf springs. Might give us a better idea.

Also check all your spring mounts as well.

It usually takes a long time but leaf springs do wear out. I don't know how much longer you plan to keep the truck but if it is the springs and you replace them, adding air bags will help the new springs last longer and help it ride better when loaded down. Firestone has some pretty good kits.

Check the shackles, they are known to rust out. Also what else have you done with the truck? Ever overload it with 3000 lbs of gravel or like? Do you off road hard at high speed or jump the truck? Are you regulalry carrying the max payload. Are you one that loads 500 -600 lbs of sand in the bed or winter traction and leaves it most of the year? Leaf springs do not normally fail in 5 years of service.
