Default Made a mechanical tailgate lift for loading/unloading

Made a mechanical lift, works like a power tailgate lift but just slides into my 2" receiver, no electrical connection, works with winch and pulleys. I didn't want or need a Tommy Gate on my truck but also didn't feel like breaking my back loading generators, compressors, etc. Also had a time in the winter when the sheer pin on the driveline of my snow blower sheered off and pushing a 10hp 29" blower up ramps is no fun.

Just thought I'd share some pics, works well on loads up to 250 lbs and then my suspension starts loading too much which makes the deck take on quite an angle but with a pair of jack stands to take the load off of my truck's suspension I've loaded over 480 lbs with my lift. Guess the max load option would have helped in hind site.

Deck also pivots vertically so I can leave it on while driving, probably should relocate my license though... or wait until I'm stopped.

Can't say I use my ramps much at all anymore, they just took too much room in my bed anyway. Filed my patent so hope to see where this can go and if others see it as a practical solution as I have.

Here is a video I took showing the install and use:

Thanks.

Looks great! Well done! I hope you're able to secure your patent and market your product. I look forward to seeing it hooked up to a 2018 F-150 Platinum after you've made your first million

Looks good. Seems like it should be power though. I bet it will sell a lot better if you use the power version for most of the marketing.

I like it, but I hope you offer it with an electric winch, for us lazy bastards. Good luck

Thanks for the feedback on going powered, but I couldn't get enough power out of the trailer electrical connection so it would require running cables directly to the battery each time you want to use it or doing a more involved install, as well makes it tougher to move vehicle to vehicle.

I am going for a simple, reliable, ready to use in 1 minute out of the box type of product.

Thanks for checking it out, appreciate the input!

What if you fabricated a way to use one of those 20v battery packs for drills?

Great idea and nice fabrication! May I suggest that you use black diamond plate rather than chrome? Or use skateboard grip tape to cover the chrome deck? This will prevent the cars behind you from blinding themselves with the reflection of their own headlights at night. The skateboard grip tape may be the better option because it would serve more than one purpose. Nicely done though!

Good point about the drivers behind being blinded at night. The deck is aluminum checker plate as I'm in Canada where we're using salt on the roads so I'm thinking of rust resistance wrt the deck. Skateboard tape may be the answer, thanks!
