Default Looking to buy used 2.7L Eco, towing questions please...

Looking at a used 2.7L Ecoboost F150. I have been reading all I can about towing with them and have been going back and forth with engine combos and I saw this one for sale. The window sticker shows it has "3.73 rear locking axle", and the "6250# GVWR" package. It also shows "trailer Tow package". The dealer is saying that it will tow 8200# with a payload of 2200#. Maybe that is the case, but I do see where it gives me the package number to confirm that? My camper is about 4800# dry, and the tongue weight is around 500#. If I add cargo and people I may be fine but I would like to confirm this being taking the plunge.

g a costly plunge. Any insights would be appreciated!

It's good to slow down and wait until you can articulate and know if your truck is enough.

The first step in the process is to have the dealer send you a picture of the yellow sticker in the driver door jam. The second step will be to ask the salesman why he misled you into believing your truck would have a 2200 lb payload rating.

Confirm the 2200 lb payload. That's more than would be typical especially for a crew or extended cab truck. More likely with a regular cab and you don't specify. There is a sticker on the drivers door. I'm thinking 2200 might be the max possible assuming it is equipped properly. Most are not, I've seen trucks with as little as 1100 lbs payload and some over 2000. Most tend to be in the 1600-1800 lb range. The salesman is probably quoting numbers from a chart. You have to actually look at the sticker on the truck.

I'd figure on at least 5500 lbs for the TT once loaded, maybe more. It would be a good idea to work with the TT's GVWR instead of dry weight. Multiply that number by .13 to get a good estimate of true tongue weight. A 5500 lb trailer will have about 750 lbs on the tongue. Add another 100 for a WDH and you're looking at about 850 lbs on the tongue. Subtract that from payload and that is how much weight you have room for in the truck for passengers and cargo. If the payload is around 1100-1200 lbs then you don't have much room to spare for you, passengers, and gear in the truck. If it is a typical 1600-1800 or more then you should be fine.

Dealer is full of crap. No way that sticker says 2,200. Not a chance in hell.

Hard to believe a curb weight of just 4050 lbs.

A 301A Equipment Group XLT would weigh more than my truck, all else being equal. Is the truck you're looking at a regular cab, short-bed?

We can't see the rest of the factory data plate. What's the GVWR? (it's "Payload Package")? and what body configuration and wheelbase is it? Is it a 2.7?

It’s a 3.5l v6 has the tow package not the payload that I am aware of.

Sure, but I'm not sure how that sheds light on a 2200 lbs payload 2.7. I have a 2018 2.7 ecoboost with 1963 lbs and I would be absolutely flabbergasted if the salesman was giving him accurate information about 2200 lbs of payload.
