Post #1 says his rig includes sway control, so I assumed that meant a WD hitch with sway control. Only an idiot would tow that much trailer without a good WD hitch with built-in sway control or sway prevention.

Yes I do have a WDH, and thanks for all the advice. I plan on taking and extra spare as well. Trailer is only 8 months old it's a 2017 jayco. I will take all advice thrown my way.

Should I have the transmission flushed before I leave or wait till I get back. The truck only has 60k mikes on it. ( 2014 f150 XLT super crew 4x4 5.0)? I've been told both. I also have been told that Ford recommends it at 100k miles.

I figured he could have been referring to the built-in sway control.

You were told wrong. Ford says your ATF is good for 150,000 miles. Look in your Owner's Guide near the back under "Scheduled maintenance" and you'll see the 150k spec. If you're **** about scheduled maintenance, then it won't hurt anything except your wallet to change it with less than 100k miles on the factory fill - after you return from your towing trip.

Flushing the tranny and doing it right is a tough job. If you DIY, then use nothing but the specified ATF to flush with. (Motorcraft MERCON LV ATF].
Amazon Amazon
= MERCON LV

Note that's a 12-quart carton. But the tranny holds 13.1 quarts, plus you'll need a coupla extra quarts to do a good job of flushing all the old ATF out of the system. So I would buy one carton plus 3 quarts for a DIY tranny flush.
