You can also look for a truck with a few less options and decent GVWR, the 4x4 SCAB on the 11-14 had a 7350 GVWR. Mine is just a bit under 1800lb yellow sticker, no max tow or HD payload, but it's a basic STX version with manual cloth seats and rubber floors. It's a comfy work truck, with good payload, decent stereo and power windows and doors.

A stock 2004 Wrangler weighs between 3,200 and 3,700 pounds. I'm guessing I'm on the high end of that estimate, if not over, because of the customizing I've done. I'm pretty sure the suspension lift and larger tires (33x12.50 DuraTracs) are the most substantial weight addition so far. I'm going to try to get mine weighed in the next couple days so I'll know for sure, I just have to find a facility that'll let me do it.

As far as the trailer goes: there's a rental facility near my house that I've used before. Their car haulers are 1,300 pounds. I borrowed a friend's Tundra and hauled my Jeep to and from Moab. For the record, though, I like the F150's layout much more than the Tundra.

I found one for sale and, fortunately, the guy took a photo of the GVWR on the sticker. It sits at 7,700. Given that I want to tow a Jeep on a car hauler, I'm assuming I can do without the HD Payload?

Verdict is in: my Jeep weighs 4,300 lbs. I guess I've done more weight-adding to it than I originally thought!

Finally pulled the trigger and picked up a 2011! I'm really happy with it so far. Looking forward to putting its capabilities to the test.
