I'm going to take a wild guess here that he is using the Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel connection with the adapter turned forward to allow max distance between trailer and back window.

I have mine turned rearward (closing the gap from trailer to cab) and have not had any problems with turning and contacting the cab/back window.

No guess, fact. I lowered the gooseball in the Andersen hitch to the mid notch since this picture. It pulls nicely but I wouldn't want to go lower or closer yet. Pulling this way is defiantly better but I need to get used to it.
I got back yesterday from the Outer Banks beaches. By dumb luck I managed to get in at Oregon Inlet National Park on the season opening.

Nice looking rig!! Welcome to the Grand Design family and looks like that model trailer is a good match for your spec'ed out F150. Do you have the 3.55 or 3.73 gears with the Max payload and max towing package. Guessing 8 to 9K pounds gross you're getting around 9 mpg @62 to 65 mph. Sounds like a great trip to break in the camper.!!

Thank you. A lot of homework, thought, planning and mental anguish went into it. The HDPP is spec'd with a 3.73 rear gear. The trailer has a 9500# GVWR which I doubt I'll ever see as the dry weight was 7330# and I moved in my 1000# of stuff from my previous TT. Surprisingly I was getting in excess of 11 MPG going up RT168 and RT13 from the outer banks to home. This is varied speeds from 50 to 65 mph with stop lights intermittently. I was using midgrade, 89 octane, the whole trip. The brand gas you use is a determinant to. On the way down, before I crossed the Chesapeake Bay, I filled up at a Royal Farms station and watched my mileage drop like a rock by 30% to 8.5mpg. I saw this last year with my previous TV. I just didn't remember in time.

That looks like a nice set up you have. I hope to make it there this summer. I used to live in Crested Butte years ago when I was wild and woolly. It would be fun to get back and revisit.
That landscape looks a lot like the sand flats and barrier islands on the Mid-Atlantic coast if the mountains weren't in the background.

this past weekend i set up a WDH for my little toy hauler. Didn't think i really needed it since it's max weight is just around 6500lbs (with water, gear, and toy).. Loaded up with my current setup, i might be at 4600lbs (3100 dry weight). But man did that hitch and sway bar make a world of a difference towing. couldn't feel all of the little bumps in the road (i'm in michigan, we have ALOT of those little bumps).. only mildly felt the big bumps. Pulled even easier than it did before. Can't wait for the August trip to the UP this summer, even though i can't bring the toy
