It's a 2016 F150 5.0L 4x4 3,73 gear ratio. Payload is 1764lbs. RV weighs 8400 and has a pin weight of 1500 lbs. (taken from the spec sheet). I'm using a standard 5th wheel hitch (curt 16K). Never had a problem going uphill or stopping. But I did notice that my headlights were aiming a little high.

If you dont have one already, Get an Anderson 5er hitch, will save you 100lbs payload. Timbrens work great and cant blow out or malfuction like an airbag can and Timbrens wont effect unloaded ride quality. And if u have a slider hitch, ditch it. Just more weight thats not needed.

I enjoy this thread, and there are some really nice pics posted, but if I could make one comment, for the safety of everyone on the roads, please ensure that your vehicle is equipped with proper tow mirrors.

Here's our rig hitched up, a 2012 Jayco x213:
Attachment 478203
We just got back from a trip to the Grand Tetons, and averaged 11mpg while towing

It's an Open Range 2802BH. Still need to get it loaded up and the WDH set up correctly for that, but I'm excited to have something that I can *almost* stand up straight in!

This is the fifth wheel I was looking at getting. In the towing section of this forum I posted it. It weighs 6600 lbs empty. And the hitch weight is 1200 lbs. Anyway I posted it there and a member said it was WAY to heavy for me to tow with my F150.
Now I see a member here towing a 8000 lb fifth wheel with the same truck I have.

His truck is a HDPP model with 2400+ pounds of payload not the standard 16-1800 pounds.
Are you planning on towing the 5'er with only you in the truck or do you have family that will be riding with you?
If it is the latter and you do not have the HDPP on yours then you will be over your payload capacity.
There is no set "He can do it so I can" scenario because of every variable makes a difference.
There are pics of people towing trailers that are no doubt over their payload, tow rating, and/or GCVW ratings and they swear it does it fine.
Does that make it legal? Safe?
I wouldn't want to put my family at risk doing something that could easily be avoided.
I had a RV dealer tell us that any trailer on his lot with 2 axles on it would be towable by my F150 but in reality that just isn't true.
Now if it was just me in the truck and I were delivering the empty trailer to it's destination then my truck would be able to tow it but once you load it for camping it would not.
