There are plenty of smaller ones with slide outs, even as small as 16-18'. A 30' pull behind is a big trailer. I would look and see if there is an RV expo near you. That way, you'll get to see a lot of trailers from different manufacturers in a short amount of time. Layouts will change between manufacturers or even between the product lines of the same manufacturer so seeing a lot of them and doing your own comparison is your best bet. If there isn't an expo near you, just start stopping in to different dealerships and browsing. Things I would pay attention to are the capacities of the tanks and payload capacity of the trailer.

Looks like you did your homework on the numbers. I'm shocked that a trailer works with the F150 but damn that's awesome!

HDPP is so awesome. Dont know why anyone would buy an 250 diesel when you could get an F150 with the same payload capacity. I know they are heavier and bigger but when you only tow 5 or 10% of the time and are driving your kids to school the rest . . . .

That is correct except the tow rating is increased on 157" wheel base screw all the way up to 13,200lbs!!

i couldnt aggree more.
I only travel 4-5 times a year with the RV. NOT enough to justify the front solid axle harsh ride, and crap MPGs of a F250/350. Ive driven all of them, the F-150HDPP ride is far better. And 19-20mpg on the hwy is not too shaby for a work horse.

I mostly agree, but if I were towing a 5th wheel I would get a Superduty with the diesel.

if you do what all modern diesels should do with DPF crap is eliminate the DPF and urea injection stuff, run diesel like it's meant to be run, and your mpg would be similar, with a crap ton more capability. Pretty surprising what those diesels can do when the nanny assistive crap is deleted. Oh and reliability skyrockets too.

but they did change the 2018. The frame is a heavier gauge steel, so are the axles, and I assume the hitch was upgraded to carry 1320 lb tongue.

that may be true. I havent found a 2018 ford fleet doc with the specs yet.

I already have the thicker frame cuz i have the HDPayload Package.

So if you could find a half ton with enough *** to tow your trailer, you'd shell out an extra $8k + initially, $100 oil changes, a harsh ride and higher fuel costs to tow a trailer 4-5 times a year? Towing full times, sure or maybe if one of those 4-5 times was a cross country trip. Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense to buy a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel unless you just have a lot of extra money to burn.
