Nice Cougar...we love ours.

We went with LTs all way around and it made a big difference...much more stable feeling...

All hooked up and ready to go. Kind of a cool picture. Black to black, one pink flower.

Default Our new trailer

Just picked up our new trailer over the weekend. The dealer did a great job of setting up the hitch. I have a two inch leveling kit up front so its already a tad bit higher already. I only drove it like 50 miles to the house, but so far so good. I know the power is there, I'm just worried about the wind and handling. They said I bought the best hitch I can get (4 point equalizer). I caught myself going over 70 mph a few times (only planned on going 60-65) so the towing power is there. The trailer is 34' long and just over 7000 lbs dry.

She's a nice looking trailer! Congrats!

Our trailer is slightly longer (35' tip to tail), slightly heavier (7800 or so according to the sticker, GVWR 9900) and we also use the Equalize 4 point hitch. We've got just over 500 miles on it and it tows really well. We do get bounciness on some roads and it will feel the effects of wind but it's not what I would call unsafe (I never felt out of control). Watching others and even 18 wheelers they also feel the same effects that we do.

What I did to combat the bounciness was to air the tires up to the max on the sidewall (all but 1 were under 30 PSI! ) and that helped a good bit (also probably helped MPG). I'll probably tweak the hitch as we now have it loaded like we go camping. Airbags or some other suspension tweak would be the next piece at some point.

The hardest part is the backing. And getting used to getting on that go pedal before your speed drops too much. We just had a 400 mile trip (200 each way) this weekend through the mountains of PA and I had no issues keeping up with the speed limit on the back roads. Sometimes it was in 2nd @ 40 but it pulled great.
