Nice looking rig! Don't sweat it EfExFore, jump in the hot seat and tow away. You'll be fine. Take your time, watch your corners, give yourself lots of stopping distance. In just a few trips it'll be old hat.

My 2013 FX4 hooked up to my 30' Denali for the first time (formerly towed by my 2011 Lariat EB).

What's the weight on that? What hitch do you have?

The trailer is just under 7,000 lbs dry. I've got the Eazy Lift weight distribution hitch using the 1,000lb bars. I also have the Firestone Ride Rite Airbags, so everything is level with no sagging.

Make sure you follow the installation instructions for the weight distributing hitch and measure any "rise" of the front end. That's what can really get people into trouble. Even with the air bags you can remove enough weight off of the front end, with a high tongue weight, to lose control in certain situations (wet pavement, uphill, etc,...). If the WDH is adjusted correctly, you'll see no rise at the front end after it's all tightened down.

X2. I run bags and this is an important point.

Measure your unloaded front-end ride height, then when you hookup, keep the bags deflated and dial in your WD until you get back to your unloaded ride height in the front (within 1"). Then air up your rear bags to level the ride.

Default 2013 XLT with 28ft Nitrous

Here's the setup the girlfriend and I have, drove to WV to purchase it and had no issues trailering back to GA. I have since upgraded to the FX4 with a 5.0L though and enjoy it much more.

A buddy of mine was towing a VERY heavy trailer with a big dually GMC 3/4 ton in some snow, and it decided to just go STRAIGHT when he turned the wheel at a curve. He ended up in a ditch (it wasn't THAT slippery!). We figured out his tongue weight was around 700 pounds, which made his steering nearly ineffective/useless.

Yes, hanging stuff off of the back of the camper will lower the tongue weight, but at some (small) percentage of the total of the (bikes?) load. Probably depends on the trailer.
