I thought I would post this here. It's the only thread I subscribe to on this site, which I'm sure is true for many others.
Test drove a F250 diesel pulling my trailer this weekend and WOW what a difference. I expected the hp difference which was awesome but the stability, rear end bouncing and sway was so much better. The trailer just felt much more under control.
I pride myself on spec'ing a trailer within the F150 limits but what a difference with that F250. It really showed what a longer wheelbase and extra weight makes pulling my trailer. I always had trailer sway at about 60-65 with crosswinds (F150 has 10ply's and full psi) and had just blamed it on the crappy trailer tires. The F250 proved me wrong.
I love my F150 but if you're pulling a trailer that's more the 24-26ft long, you should really consider the F250.

You guys aren't helping me at all. I've been looking at getting a 250 diesel SOMEDAY,...but this isn't helping me put that off until I wear out my F150...
Thanks, thanks a bunch.

Question for you guys that went from a 150 to the Superduty, do you still notice the porpoise effect with the trailer and truck? I wish I knew someone with a Superduty so I could take the trailer out with it to be able to do a comparison. I will probably just go right to a F350 so I can be prepared for when we upgrade to a fifth wheel.

We're pulling a Fuzion 371 toy hauler that grosses out at 16K pounds. We found out that this is too much for a F-250 or 350 SRW to handle. Hitch weight is what kills the SRW 250 and 350's. Anything more then 13K pounds is in one ton dually territory! 8 ft beds are better for the 5th wheels also to avoid hitting the cab on tight turns. Travel trailers over 9K pounds work great with a 250 or 350 SRW.

I think I'll end up balancing out the weight on a F-350 dually...daughter and son in law also have a 30' TT that the F-250 can handle safely. I just wish my family would have informed me earlier of buying a heavy toy hauler and I would have bought a dually instead of my F-150.
