Default New Timber Ridge 240RKS

After looking around for the last year, we finally got this Outdoors R.V. Mfg. Timber Ridge 240 RKS. The same people who make Nash and Artic Fox started this company up by taking over a bankrupt manufacturer (Fleetwood Wilderness, I think?) out in Oregon back in 2008-2009.

It's less than 28' long so we can squeeze into some older campgrounds and National Park sites. But is heavy, because of the double glazed thermal windows, thick walls, off-road chassis/shocks and so on. We got the model with the two recliners and big windows in the slide-out. Here's a link with the floorplan and more pictures: http://www.outdoorsrvmfg.com/timberr...del.php?id=133

Unfortunately they're only sold out west. So it meant a road trip to B.C. and back. Worth it though as it's a lovely trailer, and there were zero problems with it. I managed to find campgrounds with electricity all the way back to Ontario. Even Lake Louise, Banff NP in the Canadian Rockies is open year round.

Snow wasn't bad, missed the big dump in Calgary by about 2 days. Just washed the road salt off today. Hopefully got it all.

Florida - here we come.

I got the trailer out of storage with my truck yesterday because my parents and I are leaving Thursday to North Georgia. Looking forward to the cool weather (was a high of 85 today in central Florida). Ill take a picture of the campground and just the camper because we are taking my dads Tahoe haha. The camper is on page 191 already

Love seeing all these awesome travel trailers! I'm hoping to pick one up in the next two years so my 4 month old can enjoy the places we will go too.
I've been thinking.. can a veteran outdoorsman start a thread showing the gear they take with them so myself and other future/new campers get ideas on what to carry? Also, what are some of you fellas doing about power? what size generators and what are some "whisper quiet" ones?

You need to go to rv.net and start studying.

I rarely camp without power but, I use two 2000 watt Hondas that are tied together to provide 4000watts of power. Have a 25ft cord and put them as far away as possible then park the truck in between the camper and generators

Most all of the "Inverter" style generators are designed to be more quiet than standard generators. Get ready to break out the check book, these generators are generally 3-5x more expensive than their standard counterparts. However, they do provide clean, "quiet" power.

We bought this late last summer:
http://www.yamahamotorsports.com/out...26/0/home.aspx
When we're deep in the trees our solar system can't keep up as my wife uses a CPAP at night. It is about as quiet and fuel efficient as they get. We use it only for charging the house batteries and occasional nuking.

Unless you're in the trees all the time, go solar. IMO it is better: no noise, no mess, no added maintenance either.

Agreed on the rv.net recommendaation.

Last year we bought this Champion generator from Costco.

http://www.championpowerequipment.co...rators/75531i/

I liked it because it already had a 30amp RV plug built into it, so no need to adapt. The other reason we bought it was because Costco was selling it for $800, well below any other inverter generator on the market. It has its ups and downs. The noise is about on par with other inverters. it has enough power to run an AC unit with no problems unless you try to run too long of a cord to it (over 50 ft). It does have pretty good fuel "mileage", a tank can power an AC unit for about 6-7 hours.

The mechanicals are good but the construction isn't the greatest. It has a fold up handle and two wheels for moving, but while trying to roll it across gravel i popped one of the wheels off. It did go back on. Also while down in Riggins Idaho where it gets super hot i went to move it with the handle and the handle broke. Not sure if the heat helped that along or not, it was over 100 degrees.
