My total trip average was 9.0 MPG on the nose from NW Ohio to Disney and back. I drove between 70 and 72MPH on the expressway. The truck only left the campground 1 time while we were down there for a quick Wal Mart run. I was amazed at the difference running premium fuel. I ran premium the entire trip, but at one fill up they only had 87 regular available. That tank was only 7.5MPG!!! (and is included in the 9.0 MPG average)
Yea I noticed that difference with 87octane 10% ethanol and 87 pure. Got 12 with the 10% and 9 with the 87 pure! I get better empty with the 87pure but got man did it suck for towing!

When I was a kid we rented a trailer from them @ the same size as that one. Took a trip through the Okanagan and Kootenays and thought we were in RV heaven... Lol

I have the same setup as you, the dual cam wdh and airbags sure make towing my trailer a hell of a lot easier ! I may have start running premium gas, wasn't aware of the difference that it makes, my last long trip I averaged @ 10 mpg...

Nice rig. Looks like you are well set up for the long haul.

I'm looking into ways to stop the drumbeat sound of the rain on the roof of the slide out unit on my new 2014 Wilderness 2175 RB.

One method is to slide it back in, but I find that unacceptable because it is way too cramped inside with the slide out retracted.

Another method is don't camp in the rain.
Cancel that idea. Rain happens!

Another method is to install an awning. Problem is there is insufficient clearance on my unit.

And another method is to install slide toppers, which it looks like you have 2 installed, one on each slide out.

My question is, do you ever camp on the beach where the wind gets under the slide toppers (like it gets under the awning) and causes noise and or destruction?
.

We put a couple cheap blow up air mattresses on top of the slide under the topper, no noise and water doesn't pool either.

That's music to my ears! Lol I love hearing it and sleep peacefully because I know I won't wake up to a flooded tent. Lol

We do camp at the beach on occasion but have not had this unit there yet. I've been camping in some decent winds and haven't had noise problems. The longer one for the main slide will pool water on occasion. The idea mentioned about an inflatable mattress is a good idea to help prevent this. I think I'll give it a shot my next outing.

Just installed a Roadmaster Active Suspension on my 13 Eco. Love em. Ride comfort did not change, does a great job with my 5er, and no adjusting air pressure.
