Default I think I am pushing the limit of my truck.

I have a 2009 STX w/ a 4.6L, It is rated to tow 5300lbs. My trailer dry weight is 3780lbs. I am going to take it to North Dakota this summer from Washington. With all our crap, and my wife and I (big people), and my 2 sons (skinny), plus 2 kayaks I am wondering if I go over the tow capacity will that blow up my truck. I have an equalizing hitch, a factory tranny cooler with an aftermarket tranny cooler installed in series.
Thanks

On a SCALE of 1 to 10...WEIGHT for it...

The only real way to know for sure...go to the SCALES and WEIGH it...

I actually was just looking for the nearest scales when you replied to my post. I am mostly wondering if I do go over weight can I damage my truck? I don't mind camping out in the slow lanes going up the pass.

A slight overweight won't damage your truck, there is some cushion in the ratings. Whether it's legal or not (it's not) is for you to ... weigh

A guy here just towed 32,000 lbs for 300 miles with his F150, so I'd say you're good...

i think most of the time you run out of pay load before you hit the tow capacity... what's the tire pressure sticker on the door jam for payload say?

I think you will be good. Make sure your tires, brakes (trailer brakes included), cooling system and tranny are up to snuff... Keep it around 60-65...Don't take anything with you that you don't absolutely need.
