How To Figure Out Your Axle Weights
The specs give a front and rear Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) which is the max number of pounds you're allowed to have pushing down on the axles, right or wrong?
So how do we know the number of pounds of weight pushing down on each axle when the truck is empty? Say the truck is empty and the manufacturer's rear GAWR is 3,350 pounds. How do we know how much of the GAWR is used up by the empty truck weight? |
Take the truck to the scales and weigh each axle.

I been looking online for a place in Tampa and can't seem to find anything.

Well, thanks. I thought CAT scale was only for like big semi-trucks / 18-wheelers.

For figuring out your truck's axle weights, it is recommended to have a full tank of fuel and at least the driver in the truck. From there, be very aware of what is placed where in the truck and the items/people's weights. |
Anyone know if these "CAT" scales can weigh individual axles, or only the whole vehicle?
|
Either/or.

If you adhere to the payload restrictions of your truck and use proper load managment.
I don't believe it's possible to exceed the GAWR with out purposely trying to. |
