Anyone pulled in a truck pull yet with these? I'm trying to figure out what gear would be best. I'm thinking 4x4 low and starting out in the 3rd gear. The problem I'm having in mine is it won't shift out of 1st in 4 low. Is it supposed to work like this? Or do I have to manually shift? I read somewhere that you have to start out in the gear you want to be in and that's it. Thoughts?

Can't help with the gear selection, but I'm wondering what chassis mods your looking at? Boxing in the frame, beefing up cross members, Some sort of suspension lock to keep from squatting too bad? I've seen guys hook up to the sled and just destroy their rides from simple weaknesses. They get one half pull at less than 100ft. and get loaded on the trailer for the ride home and you never see the truck again. I've seen some pin in suspension blocks installed for pulling.....3 point pin flanges welded to the axle housing and frame and heavy gauge tubing pinned in at 3 angles on each side to lock the axle in place with no suspension squat. Inexpensive mod that can be pinned in at the track and removed when it's time to drive home. We haven't had a private mud pit or pulling track around my area in 10 or 15 years, but some guys got some awesome pulls with stuff they drove to and from the track.

Yeah that's why I wanted to do it under warranty so if it breaks I can be like "fix it". Either way I don't plan on doing anything too crazy, just a simple pull. If a pickup can't do what it's designed to do (pull) then I don't even want it. I did get rid of the stock block and am running skyjacker leaf springs so that really helps with axle wrap. I'm just curious about how the 4x4 low works...guess I'll have to take it out and figure it out one day.

You'd be surprised what they can pull! If I want a good mix of pulling power and tire speed I use 4 low 2nd gear on my 2008. I don't like posting stuff like this topic on this forum though because it's just a matter of time before the "experts" chime in with **** you don't need to be told and how dumb it is ect. But I'm like you , if the truck can't hold up to a pull what's the good of it? I don't beat on my truck but I'm sure as hell not scared to use it! It's a truck!

Haha... I use my truck as a truck. Its a 08 dents and dings all over scratches. Maybe someday i will have a truck and not use it like a truck. Intill that day.. It will do what i ask of it or i don't really need it.

Exactly! If I could afford a nice road only truck too I'd use one as a truck and keep one all super pretty but I can only have one so it's a jack of all trades!

Lol... Well i bought my 08 new. To use as a nice ride to get around in.And keep my f250 to do the dirt work... That lasted a few months.Its been bangin off the rev limiter every since.

Haha mines an 08 and I use it to pull trailers, haul wood in the box I load it down pretty decent I take it hunting and fishing through mud and hills and anything it will make it through! It's a truck afterall

Just ate when someone asks a question and gets answers like "that's so dumb" " you're gonna wreck your truck" stupid **** like that. Some people actually use and work their trucks and I say to each their own.
