Heavy Duty Payload Package
hey everyone - new to the forum here.
I'm currently in the market for an F150 but I need one with the Heavy Dury Payload Package. I can't afford new so I'm going used.
None of the used dealers can tell me whether or not the trucks have the Payload package.
How can I tell?

Last year when I was looking I figured out how to narrow down search results (on the ford website) to a list that might be hdpp. That was to select all the options I knew hdpp had to have on a lariat (6.5' bed, 18' wheels, 3.73, 3.5eco, etc). Then I looked for the actual description of the wheels, which is unique for hdpp. Once I had a VIN, I did a google search to find the dealer. I was able to find a couple 2016s this way. Maybe similar steps will help you reduce your search set.

Hi, theGeek57, and WELCOME! to our campfire.
Yeah, before the 2015 model year, it was easy to tell because all the HDPP F-150s had 7-lug wheels/hubs, and all the other F-150s had 6-lug wheels.
For 2016-up you have to know a bunch about what was required for an F-150 to have HDPP. There were no 2015s produced, and only a few 2016s at the end of the model year. So you're probably looking at 2014 or earlier or 2017 model year if you want an F-150 with HDPP.
First thing, it has to have the "long" bed, 6.5' on a SuperCrew or 8' on SuperCab and regular cab. It came with LT tires, not P-Series. On 2016-up, 17" load range E was standard with XL trim, and 18" load range C was standard with XLT or Lariat trim or optional with XL trim. Non-luxury trim only - Fanciest available was Lariat with base Lariat trim (order code 500A). XLT with low or midgrade trim (order code 300a or 301a, but not 302a). And no King Ranch or Limited or other fancier trim.

One of the extremely few 2015 F-150s with HDPP. Appareantly Ford wasn't happy with something about the 2015 HDPP in the new alloy bodied F-150s, so they kept them on "delayed availability" all model year and most of the next model year. They finally began regular production in the Spring of 2016.

I might be mistaken, but I think all HD's come with 3 leafs plus the main in the rear spring packs.
