Default Heavy Duty Payload Package

So I see in the payload thread that some of you actually have HDPP trucks. It seems Ford advertised them for years but never produced them. So what's different?
Are the tires LT C range or LT E range?
Are there just more helper springs?
Is the rear diff the same now or still different?
I assume you can still get a 3.5 ecoboost with electric power steering?
Is it still just a basic truck or can you add some features to it?

Finally how does it ride compared to a max tow?

Thanks

You can go to the Ford website and "build the truck" with the HDPP. You must order the 6.5' bed if you go with the SCrew. They are different in rear end, springs etc.

When I add that package the website just "thinks" and sits there and does nothing so I can't see what options I can add with the HDPP

From the Ford sales brochure:

Heavy-Duty Payload Package includes 3.73 electronic locking rear axle, 9.75" gearset, 36-gallon fuel tank, upgraded springs, auxiliary transmission oil cooler, 17" silver heavy-duty steel wheels with LT245/70R17E BSW all-terrain tires on XL, and 18" silver heavy-duty aluminum wheels with LT275/65R18C OWL all-terrain tires on XLT and LARIAT

Thanks. The standard F150 already has a 9.75" gearset so is the HDPP different? In the past it had 7 lug axles but not any more.

I think now all you getting are upgraded springs and a 3.73 gear. Everything else can be added by adding max tow and the FX4 package which lets you add the LT C range.

supposed to be a thicker frame

HDPP might be an option best discussed with a dealer rather than the ford website.

It seems Ford advertised them for years but never produced them

Ford has made tons of them

I don't think so. For about two years they advertised it but never made any

None were made in 2015. They resumed making them in 2016.

I have a 2013 HDPP. The rear springs are 3 plus 1 vs 2 plus 1 as the regular trucks have. The front springs are heavy duty also. Also the rear bearings are bigger that the regular f150 axle. It's only rides a bit stiffer because of the LT tires.
