Heavy Duty Payload OEM Wheels

Even though they don't have a P on them, they are the same load index as a P-rated tire. I went from OEM P265/70R17 to OEM 255/75R20 and was confused by this as well. Both tires were Michelin AT2 and, once you look into them, they carry the same load index. I'm not sure why they drop the P on the 20's.

You can have an LT tire and not have it be a load range E. My next tires for my Jeep liberty are going to be 265/75R16 Wrangler Duratracs and they make two versions in that size. One is E rated and good up to 80 psi and 3415 lbs, the other is C rated and good up to 50 psi and 2470 lbs. Both tires are represented as an LT265/75R16

They have the same exact load limit that the Goodyear Wrangler LT tires have that came with the truck. Load range C load index 113. Are you saying that Ford misrepresented the tires on the sticker?

A LT C range will have a max pressure of 50 psi and a LT E range will be 80 psi. What you have is a P metric extra load. The P metric tires are softer and squishy and not what someone who tows heavy needs.
There are very few companies that make a LT C range tire which is why I stick with Goodyear Wranglers.. Go up to LT E range and your choices are endless.
Either keep what you got or bite the bullet and buy some real truck tires.

Sorry to say but the new tires handle towing MUCH better than those "LT" tires the truck came with and 6 PSI doesn't make much difference at all when comparing 18" tires to 20" tires. The 20's have a stiffer side wall for starters, and less side wall for firmer handling. These are also listed as Light Truck and SUV tires. That is why no P in front of the size as they are not P metrics.
Besides if I wanted real LT tires, I would have bought a truck they are needed for, an F350, but I have no need for that robust a tire, I don't overload the truck.

My F150 with HDPP came OEM with LT245/75R17 LRE. My truck certainly isn't an F350.
So sometimes even little old F150 can come with LT tires.

That would be a surprise, since I am pretty sure Ford lists it as coming with LR C tires. Ford lists the LT series with 113 and 114 load index which is the same load as LRC.

That would be the only exception in my book. HDPP pretty much screams LRE! Was going to mention that too, but it was an after thought and I was already off doing something else.

You guys don't have on your thinking cap. F-150 XL with HDPP still have LT245/75R17E tires for the 2018 model year. The LT 18" HDPP tires on XLTs and Lariats, and optional on XL with HDPP, are load range C, but the LT 17" HDPP tires that are standard on XLs are still load range E.
The weird 7-lug HDPP wheels went away back about 2015 model year, but the load range E 17" tires are still with us for 2018 model year.
