Getting some trailer sway
I posted a similar thread in another forum but figured I would try here too. I have a 2012 f150 stx with the 5.0l. It has standard equipment for that trim plus the integrated brake control and tow package. The only thing aftermarket on the truck is a set of rear timbrens bump stops. I towed a 3k lb equipment trailer with a compact tractor weighing approximately 2500 lbs and was getting a little trailer sway at speeds above 50 mph. The sway was not to severe but enough to you could feel it. I was not using a WHD and had plenty of tongue weight. I had a similar experience towing a 16ft aluminum enclosed trailer empty and loaded. Again had plenty of tongue weight and noticeable trailer sway. But I have towed a 5k dump trailer empty and experienced no trailer sway. Does anyone one have any ideas what is causing this or advice to prevent it? Should I look into installing a sway bar like one from hellwig?

I tow a 6k TT with P metric tires. I run the rear at max PSI and the front close to max. I have XL rated tires. Max is 50 PSI.

I'd start with the tires. Put more air in them. When I tow I have the rears of basically the same tires at 40psi (or more).
Is the trailer level?
I understand (from their web site) that the Helwigs are to prevent body roll if you had a camper in the bed.

In my experience the stock P tires are too flimsy and the sidewall flex exacerbates sway. If the higher pressures don't help I'd bet a set of LT's would.
It's only a matter of time before the wranglers leave you stranded alongside the road anyways so might as well replace them now haha
