I get 11MPG pulling two snowmobiles on an open 2 place trailer with a salt shield doing 75MPH but I can get 17.4-18.4 in stop and go traffic in the summer.

Sounds like you need a Prius.

It's all about aerodynamics. Boats are very aero, open trailers with snowmobiles/atvs a little worse and cargo trailers/camper might as well be parachutes.

11 sounds like a great number. Buck some wind with camper and welcome to 8mpg.

The only thing wrong with the truck is the drivers perception

2500 mile trip with an 7x14 enclosed with a 6.2l F350 was good for almost 8 on the nuts. Same trailer with my Coyote gets about 1mpg better

I got about 9 mpg towing my travel trailer around 70 mph to Kentucky. On the way home I got great mileage, about 14 because I was following some dude trying to set speed records in his 5th wheel.

High cross winds will really kill milage too.

going across Nebraska couple weeks ago with small trailer(1500pound).....speed limit 75.

Wind coming out of 2oclock direction up to 45mph.

5.0 with 3.55 stayed in 5th gear (6speed, 2016) on FLAT roadway just to maintain 70mph.

MPG's were absolutely awful

They love ethanol out there since its corn country.

They sell E15 and E85 at the pumps......gotta pay more for normal E10.

Really hoping this is the case. Picked up a 23' hybrid camper in NE a couple weeks ago. Strong crosswind back to CO and only got 7mpg.

2014 3.5EB
Usually get ~16mpg

On my 2010 Lariat, 5.4V8, I get 18MPG when I am not towing a trailer. On our most recent camping trip, 6,000 miles, 3,500 pound trailer, we averaged 14 MPG.

2WD truck.

I just got home from a 2,700 mile trip towing my Casita Travel Trailer (3,500 lbs). I have a 2015 XLT Super Crew 4X2, 2.7 eco boost, and 3.31 axle. For this trip I averaged 15.86 MPG and this included towing from Illinois to Virginia, to South Carolina and back to Illinois. I tow at 62 mph in tow haul mode using cruise control. When not towing I drive at 65 to 70 MPH and get around 21 to 24 MPG depending on the wind. In my experience, the wind and hills make a significant difference. On this recent trip I was getting 18 MPG while towing at 62 MPH early in the day when the winds were light. As the winds increased during the day the mileage dropped off. Without towing, if you cruise much faster that 65 MPH, the mileage also suffers. Hope this helps.
