fuel mileage when towing

About 10 towing my 28' travel trailer. 13-14 towing a 15' enclosed utility trailer that is about 6' tall. Never towed a popup.
Aerodynamics are huge in my experience, moreso than weight of the trailer in most cases. 12 seems a little low for a popup to me, but ...

This summer I hauled a 10,000lb hydraulic dump trailer in city/highway conditions for about 900 miles and averaged a little over 10 mpg using the T/H mode. I've got a '13 SCAB FX4, 5.0, 3:55s, 20s, and had about 2,000 miles on it at the time. The trailer was so tongue heavy I bent my slide-in ball mount down about 15 degrees. This truck is an absolute beast when it comes to towing. I'm sure glad I didn't get the Ecoboost- I don't think I could handle THAT much power!!

I just hauled my '06 Dodge Charger for 2000+ miles over the horrible roads and mountainous terrain of Canada. Specs are below, but I was a little over maximum weight. Started the trip meter in Anchorage, AK and ended with 12.9 mpg in Tacoma, WA six days later. Used tow/ haul mode almost entirely, except for on some downhills when the truck wanted to stay in second gear. I'd flip it into manual and up shift near the bottom to get some speed for the way up.
Trailer weight - 7,500 lbs.
Tongue weight - 750 lbs.
Truck empty weight (including driver, full tank, mods) - 5900 lbs.
Truck full weight (driver, full tank, wife, dogs, and payload) - 6800 lbs.
Total weight of truck plus trailer - 14,300 lbs.
Total trip - 2,343 miles
MPG - 12.9
* note - should of covered the car

I averaged 11.1 this summer towing, my first full summer towing. XLT, Standard Tow Pck, 5.0, 3.73, religious use of tow/haul. Trailer, 32ft, 6500# dry & probably at least 7500# fully loaded. Alaska.
