Get a kayak and throw it up top, up side is no extra gas or registration(depending on how greedy your state is) to deal with on the boat lol.

That's what we're planning to do. We/I finally settled on a tandem kayak rather than two individual kayak and I've ordered it a few weeks back. 've not heard from my dealer yet and I am dying to want to try it at our nearby lake before taking it to our camping trip next week......oh the wait...the agony...lol.

One of our requirements is water when we go camping. I fish while the wife reads and the kid drowns poor barbie lol. I've debated having my wife pull the boat while pull the camper but it just cost to much between extra tow fuel, extra lot fees, ramp fees and gas for the boat.

I'm with you there! The oldest for us is that she absolutely LOVE water so it's a must for us whether its nearby or not we plan our trip knowing where the nearest water is. I'm new to the kayak world along w/ fishing so I'll let the little one swim while I figure this fishing thing out hehe. The wife just chills w/ the younger one and he's more like her, just chilling. I'll man him up once sees us on the water so we shall see. As for the golden, she might fit in the yak but probably keep her at bay for now w/ here life jacket since she's almost 12yo....but that won't stop her jumping in heh.

p.s. how long is that Sundance? Looks like a 23-25 footer.

As soon I get that yak I'll post some pics up! But I digress! ACDII if you do get that boat I will be jealous though! Don't forget to post pic if you do get that boat

It's a 283rb, 34' bumper to hitch, 38' with the rear slide out. I hate it... everything is falling apart on it on the inside, there is a bunch of nails starting to push through the rubber on the roof, all the silicone is peeling, all at a year and a half old. It will be for sale in the spring.

Man, the length of the SCREW throws me off all the time lol. That is one long TT. I don't have quite the cajones to pull something that long let alone space on the side of my house to park it. Sorry to hear the troubles it's giving you and regardless what brand/make they are we all have them and I have my shares too!

Wow. My Coleman is 4 years old and still in like new condition. I bought the lowest priced trailer I could find too!

A canoe wont give the kind of experience I had growing up, but a row boat sure will. Those were some of the best memories I have of growing up.

I am considering getting a Flex next year to replace the Focus once it is paid for, unless the wife objects, then I am just getting the Flex to have for when the daughter reaches driving age.

Flex would work ok, even an edge too i would imagine.

Yeah heartland is supposed to be one of the "better" brands but they are all built like trash anymore since they can't get them out the door fast enough. The dealer we got it from was an issue since every time it went in they wanted it for like a month before they would touch it. We hardly camped last year because it was on their lot more than it was in my driveway. I'm pretty sure they put the wrong length leaf springs under it too because the tires are super close together, like i can't get wheel chocks in close and the tires don't look right in the wheel well. I will say for being 34' and at least 8k lb it does pull pretty nice, even with a cheap WDH and friction bar it behaved pretty well. Our old starcraft hybrid was great, next to no issues other than normal maintenance, regret trading it in now.

There are plenty of hitches out there made for the Focus, only in US they avoid the warranty if you tow. In Europe it's rated to tow up to 1,000 lbs. Here is the UK example http://www.uktow.com/towing%20capaci...d&model1=Focus. I had a 2012 Focus, and I installed the hitch myself. Then I trade it in when I got my F150, and the dealer didn't blink an eye when he saw the hitch.
Also, no motorcycle is rated for towing, but go figure, there are a bunch of motorcycle trailers for sale, and you see a ton of people towing them. I would say go for it, just be smart about it and don't overload your car.

Yep. I missed that fine-print blurb. For others, it's on the bottom-right corner on page 2 of the 2018 towing guide.
