Default Flat tow on 2018 4x4 fx4

Anyone figure out how to disengage the transmission to do flat tow? I tried several times but doesn't work. Put the transmission to N and turn the 4x4 **** 5 times within 7 seconds. Nothing shows up. I have 2018 XLT FX4

Was the key set to "ON" ? It won't work if it's on accessory. 4x4 **** should be in 2H, then hold the brake pedal and switch between 2H and 4L 5 times within 7 seconds. Note that 2H->4L->2H counts as ONE. Do that 5 times.

You should get a message on the dash saying it's in neutral tow mode.

Leave it in Neutral. If you have a standard key, turn the ignition to off. It won't let you take the key out, you have to leave it in the ignition while it's being towed. Lock the doors with the other keys or the keypad.

I've not done this before and probably forgot about it when I read the whole Manual (yes I read the ENTIRE manual lol), does this apply to recent models ie w/in the last 2-4yrs? I'm going to try this when I get home from work, but if I do. How do one get it/transmission back to 'engage' mode?

To take it out, just turn the key to ON (NOT acc), do not start the engine! Press the brake and put the truck in drive, then release the brake. It should pop up saying tow mode is disabled. Put it in Park and start up the engine.

I tried it, and that works now. The trick is to step on the brake while turning the ****. I didn't step on the brake before, and that failed. To put the transmission back to engage mode, need to turn the key back to on position, step on the brake and shift to park. Make sure the key is at ON position, step on the brake and shift, otherwise, it is still at Neutral even it is shifted to P.

Thanks, everyone.
